Judith Owen Re-imagines Classics On Her New Album

Pianist, singer-songwriter and good friend of the show Judith Owen just visited Jim & Shelli to discuss her 12th solo album "redisCOVERed." Judith was joined by her bandmates, the legendary bassist Leland Sklar and percussion wizard Pedro Segundo.

Judith talked about the live reactions she's getting from her new interpretations of classics like 'Smoke on the Water,' 'Blackbird,' Grease's 'Summer Nights' & Wild Cherry's 'Play That Funk Music.' She even puts her soulful spin on modern hits from Ed Sheeran, Justin Timberlake & Drake. Make no mistake, these are not covers- Judith is giving these songs a very personal, unique take. She absolutely transforms the mood on 'Black Hole Sun' and 'Smoke on the Water' becomes a story song that will have you following the lyrics in brand new way.

The funny and very charming Owen also discussed her new hometown of New Orleans and where she gets the soul in her amazing voice.

"redisCOVERed" will be out everywhere on May 25th.

You can listen to the entire conversation on Jim's podcast, "9 Cups of Coffee Half Drunk."

Tomorrow (Thurs May 10th) you can catch Judith with her incredible band live here in NYC at The Iridium. You'll also have a chance to see her at Havana in New Hope, PA on Friday May 18th. Shelli will be there!
