Commute and Commune with the Starman

Yesterday Shelli and I took a field trip to the Broadway-Lafayette and Bleecker St. subway stations to grab a couple of the limited edition David Bowie MTA MetroCards. They printed 250,000 with 5 distinct designs…but as a collector's item, something tells me they’re going to go fast. We’re already seeing sets go for over 200 bucks on eBay.

The MTA also collaborated with the Brooklyn Museum (they have an amazing Bowie exhibit that runs until July 15th) to make the station “Ziggy-fied.” Bowie artwork and photos are displayed all over with some interactive stations as well. Not only is it amazing to look at, but it’s great to see people with smiles on their faces, talking to each other in the subway!
