Interview: Noel Gallagher Talks 'Who Built the Moon?' U2, Oasis and More!

Noel Gallagher was presumably thrilled to see his newest album, Who Built the Moon, climb the charts in the U.S. and the U.K., but he says he would gladly have put off the album's release.

The frontman tells Q104.3 New York's "Out of the Box" with Jonathan Clarke that touring with U2 this past year was one of the highlights of his career.

"We had the most fun you could ever ring out of a stadium tour ever," he said. "It was great. On the last day if they said, 'We're going to add another 30 dates; you're going to have to put your album back a year,' I probably would have done it."

Regarding Who Built the Moon, Gallagher agreed it's unlike anything he's done before, saying there was a "spirit of adventure" to the project that ended up paying off.

"It was written in the studio, which is not something I'd ever done before,"  Gallagher. "Usually I would sit at home and chip away at a song and kind of craft it. For this particular record, our producer David said 'Let's write in the studio and let's just see where it takes us.' So some of the melodies are not really something you'd typically associate with me. But it was such a blast doing it."

Gallagher also discussed the Concert for Manchester, how his wife and children react to his music, collaborating with Gorillaz and more!
