Toilets now play into the coronavirus equation.
Thanks to a new study we’re being told to make sure to close the toilet lid before flushing or you could risk exposing yourself to coronavirus. A study published yesterday in the journal Physics of Fluids found that when a toilet is flushed it creates "airflow vortices" thats can carry airborne particles several feet above the bowl.
To recap, everything that lands in the bowl sends particles all over the room. Gross. These toilet plumes also have the potential to carry coronavirus as studies have shown this type of virus often hangs around in fecal matter.
Health officials recommend cleaning the toilet seat before using it and always wash your hands after. And close that lid!
