“The Nun”
This is the 5th of “The Conjuring” franchise…which mostly starred Vera Farmiga. This one stars her younger sister, Taissa Farmiga. A young nun in a cloistered abbey in Romania kills herself and a priest with a haunted past and a novitiate are sent in to uncover what is an unholy secret. It only gets 41% on Rotten Tomatoes but no doubt a 6th movie will soon be on the way.
“Peppermint”
Jennifer Garner, who has no shortage of drama in her life being supportive to her soon-to-be ex Ben Affleck- driving him recently to his latest alcohol rehab stint. Her on screen drama is worse. This young mom wakes up from a coma after her husband and daughter are killed in an attack on the family. When the legal system doesn’t bring the attackers to justice, the mom takes matters into her own hands. But first she spends years in hiding, honing her skills to become an urban guerilla. It’s getting just 13% on Rotten Tomatoes with complaints that’s it’s very bloody and very clichéd and predictable. Jennifer Garner actually started as an action star on the tv show “Alias” back 16 years ago, so this is going back to the day, for her!
