These lovely horses will die if the Mayor has his way. Public opinion, and the major newspapers are against his propsed ban of a New York tradition. All accounts prove the horses are well and wonderfully taken care of, and have been delighting tourists and natives for 150 years.  The backstory is the man behind the mayor's planned ban, Steve Nislick, reportedly a major financial contibutor to the mayor's campaign, who is said to have paid for negative ads about the mayor's competitors during the election. According to all the written accounts in the newspapers, he's behind the 'animal activist' organization seeking to ban the horses, and he's also the developer of the electric car propsed to repace the horses. And the clincher- He reprortedly owns major real estate property including parking garages in the West Side neighborhood right where the horse stables are. Very fishy.
