They're back, the cast of middle aged, and in some cases, older aged actors for RED2, the sequel to the 2010 sleeper hit RED. This action/comedy/spy thriller, reprises Bruce Willis' role as Frank Moses and, also along for the ride, John Malkovich, Mary Louise Parker, Anthony Hopkins, Helen Mirren, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Byung Hun Lee. The job for this jet setting spy clan is, of course, to stop a nuclear bomb from going off. Whats entertaining though, aside from the fairly awesome explosions, car chases, fight scenes etc. , is seeing these high brow actors, like Malkovich, Mirren and Hopkins, in non-typical roles, For example Mirren being an assassin taking out bad guys, shooting from both windows in a car chase, all in slow motion. Hopkins is brilliant in anything and Malkovich is hilarious throughout. Willis' and Parkers cutesy, public displays of affection for each other, (she knows what he does as a spy and wants to help him and "go to work with him") is a bit contrived. But this is good mindless entertaining fun.
