The NYPD’s effort to flood the streets with officers appears to be working.

The Daily News reports shootings in 10 targeted precincts fell 25 percent during the five weeks of redeployment.

After a rise in shootings earlier this summer, the NYPD took 313 officers assigned to desk duty and put them in some of the city’s high crime neighborhoods.

Of the 10 communities targeted, six saw a decrease in shootings.  Three saw a slight increase and one remained the same.

Despite the “Summer All Out” initiative, shootings are still up around the city by 11.7 percent for the year.
