New York City's jobless rate has hit a four year low. According to state data released Thursday, 36,500 private and public-sector jobs were added between March and April. As a result, the unemployment rate dropped from 8.9% in March to 8.4% in April. 

AM New York reports that the city has added 82,000 private sector jobs over the last year (before April). The industries that saw the largest job growth over the last year were educational and health services, as well as professional and business services.
