American Airlines is implementing a policy that will benefit passengers who travel light. The airline announced Thursday that passengers who are only taking on board a personal item that fits underneath the seat (no roller suitcases) will be allowed to board the plane earlier.

According to the Associated Press report, American Airlines claims this is in an effort to speed up the boarding process and help improve the airlines on-time performance. However, some are speculating that this is just another attempt by an airline to get more money from customers in baggage fees. Some feel that this new policy may lead to more people paying money to check their bags in order to get on the plane earlier.
