The Metropolitan Opera and two unions have reached a tentative deal.

The New York Times reports the sides worked through the night with an announcement made just after 6 o’clock this morning.

“These were difficult and highly complex negotiations, and I wish to commend the parties for their resolve in addressing multiple and complex issues,” said Allison Beck, the deputy director of the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service.

Terms of the deal were not announced.  The old contracts expired on July 31.

The contract deadline has been extended through tomorrow night for ten additional unions.

The new season will open on September 22.
