(Jen Chung) The man accused of killing his cousin's wife and four young children appeared in court yesterday. Mingdong Chen, 25, did not say anything when he was charged with one count of first-degree murder, four counts of second-degree murder and various other counts of assault and criminal possession of a weapon. His lawyer pointed to his forehead, noting that he had "good-size bruises that I believe happened while he was in custody."
The police say that Chen admitted to killing Qiao Zhen Li, the 37-year-old wife of his cousin Yi Lin Zhuo, and the couple's four children—one-year-old William Zhuo, five-year-old Kevin Zhuo, seven-year-old Amy Zhuo and nine-year-old Linda Zhuo—on Saturday night in a bloody rampage. Chen allegedly used a meat cleaver, decapitating two of the children.
