Super Bowl XLVIII is days away, and the slow build of enthusiasm is finally reaching its fever pitch. This years version of the “world championship” of American football has a lot of unique qualities, perhaps most notably its cold-weather locale. But that will likely have no effect on perhaps the most popular activity that comes with the Super Bowl, and that is placing wagers on various parts of the game.

According online gaming site Bovada, there is no shortage of Super Bowl related “proposition bets” on which one can wager. Many of these prop best seem novel and strange, but they are still statistically related to the game at hand (final scores after various quarters, total number of passing yards, Super Bowl MVP, etc.)

There are, however, a great number of really strange and non-traditional bets that one can also place, wagers that range from the presidential predictions, to detailed specifics of how the National Anthem will be performed by Renee Fleming. Not yet intrigued, well know that you can also place sizable bets on the half-time performers as well (or more to the point, what they will wear!)

So without further ado, here are some of the strangest side wager opportunities presented by Super Bowl XLVIII (for entertainment purposes only).

  1. Who will President Obama pick to win the game?
  2. Will Renee Fleming forget or omit at least one word of the official US National Anthem?
  3. Will Renee Fleming wear gloves when she starts singing US National Anthem?
  4. Will Knowshon Moreno cry during the singing of the National Anthem
  5. How many times will Peyton Manning say "Omaha" during the game?
  6. How many times will "Beast Mode" be said during the game?
  7. How many times will Eli Manning be shown on TV during the game?
  8. Will the announcers say the word "Marijuana" during the game?
  9. Will Michael Crabtree mention Richard Sherman in a tweet during the Super Bowl from kickoff until final whistle?
  10. Will any member of the Red Hot Chili Peppers be shirtless during their performance?
  11. Which song will Bruno Mars perform first?
  12. What kind of hat Bruno Mars be wearing at the start of his halftime performance?
  13. Who will the Super Bowl MVP of the mention first in his speech?
  14. If the Broncos win will Peyton Manning retire before game 1 of the 2014 Regular Season?
  15. What color will the Gatorade (or liquid) be that is dumped on the Head Coach of the Winning Super Bowl Team?
  16. Who will the Super Bowl MVP of the mention first in his speech?
  17. What will happen with the Dow Jones the day after the Super Bowl?
